The new name doesn’t retain any of the Native American legacy. It doesn’t preserve “HTTR” or work with the fight song. It’s boring and stupid. And what’s with the black uniform? Washington has never had a black uniform, to my knowledge.

After watching a day’s worth of reactions it looks like pretty much everybody had the same thoughts! I’m kind of surprised the expensive consultants they hired didn’t see it.. or maybe they saw it, but didn’t see it as a problem.
Heard some joke somewhere sometime about some parents who spent weeks and months agonizing over a name that won’t rhyme or sound like anything that could be teased with. Kids goes to kindergarten and first day some kid makes up a name for him. Wish I could find the joke.
I kind of like it. It’s neutral and shouldn’t offend anyone. The real issue is will they play up to the standards the name suggests. Will they give commanding performances on the field that leave no doubt as to their dominance?
The team has been a disappointment for a long time. I doubt this will change anything. People who know more about football than I do say nothing will improve until they get a new owner. I hope that’s not so.
