… that her social media posts were of a sort that would annoy liberals?
BSO fires principal flutist Emily Skala, who was previously rebuked over social media posts
I’m not endorsing whatever she happened to say. Maybe it was completely nuts. Maybe it was just run of the mill conservative stuff. I don’t know or care. What matters to me is that this gun is always pointed in one direction. It’s completely predictable.

If you don’t know or care, how do you know the response to her posts aren’t warranted?

How do you validate that this statement is accurate? Seems Kathy Griffin was shutdown after posting a grotesque image of Trump. Bill Maher’s show was canceled after making controversial comments about 9/11 terrorists and American forces. ESPN’s Jemele Hill was suspended for criticizing Donald Trump on social media. Samantha Bee was taken to task for calling Ivanka Trump the “C” word. Taylor Swift got swift blowback for expressing her views relative to the 2018 midterms. LeBron James was told to “shut-up and dribble” by a popular Fox journalist when he shared his political views. Interestingly enough, that sentiment significantly changed when another famous sports figure agreed with her views. Colin Kaepernick is still experiencing some of the consequences for publicly expressing his views. When Nike used him as a spokesperson, even the then president spoke out against it. The good ole Dixie Chicks experienced blowback for their public criticism of Bush. Some might even say they were blackballed. A Princeton University professor received multiple death threats after criticizing Trump in a commencement speech. Here’s some irony for you…some of Georgia’s conservative government officials got death threats for telling the truth and publicly disputing Trump’s comments about the 2020 election in Georgia.
Interestingly, David French, a former writer for the National Review, stated…“every single dysfunction you’ve observed from the Online Left and progressive media more broadly applies to the Online Right and conservative media as well.” So, is it really accurate to say that gun always pointed in one direction?
Reading that story, hard to separate the bs from the bs. Ostensibly, the reason given for firing was that she violated a suspension by appearing on property. So they say. However, istm the suspension was total bs. I just hate this stuff. She is definitely a kook to the q degree… kook^Q. However, why should she have been suspended? Hard to separate the bs from ~posting on social media~ from ~violated guidelines~. She might have a real problem getting another job like that. Probably impossible in this climate. If she gets the right lawyer/judge, things might go her way.
Hard to see how being kook^Q makes her flute playing any worse or better.
As for Kap, I think he cashed in big time. He wasn’t as good as his supporters think, and with the money from Nike and other stuff, he’s doing quite fine. The Dixie Chicks were abandoned by their fans. Lebron? Some guy on Fox said something? That’s it?
Dixie Chicks and Bill Maher… going back to 2003 or something?
I see people losing jobs for stuff they said on social media when they were minors. This shit is crazy. Probably if the person had committed a real crime, their juvenile record could have been expunged by age 28. But say you don’t like group X or whatever insult you want of group X as a minor and you’re out of a job 10 years later? This is insanity.
Can’t even tell the truth. Look at most of the videos of Asians getting assaulted, it ain’t rednecks doing it…more like folks with hoodies.

I agree…based on the article she sounds like a kook or “Karen”. That said, this is a debatable area in employment practices. People have the right to their views and to express them freely, especially apart from their employment. Yet, if the employee’s behavior violates company policy and it reflects poorly on the organization, they typically can take punitive action (especially if there is a morality clause in the employment contract). I’m not sure if her offenses were worthy of termination. It sounds like they were tired of dealing with “Karen” and this was a good way to rid themselves of her. Given the “offense” seems to debatable, a good lawyer probably could get the decision reversed with damages.

The point was that the gun isn’t always pointed in one direction when expressing an opinion publicly…not necessarily the severity or source of the consequences. Kap may have made out financially and became more notable, yet he was banned/blackballed from the NFL. Even beyond the NFL, folks like Trump thought he shouldn’t have an opportunity to be a spokesperson for Nike. As for the “Chicks”, despite the source, they were blacklisted for speaking their opinion. As for Lebron, although he didn’t suffer severe negative consequences, Laura Ingram used her platform to call him out in front of millions of viewers for practicing free speech. She literally told him to “shut up and dribble”. She went on to say that he didn’t get paid to render political opinions. Yet, when Drew Brees rendered his political opinion, she had quite a diatribe about his “right” to speak freely and even accused his detractors of being “Stalinists”. Concerning Drew, she said, “every American has the God-given right to speak his mind on any issue.” Drew and Lebron did the same thing, yet the gun got turned on Lebron.

Agreed….it’s crazy. Something similar happened to Kevin Hart when he was selected to host the Oscars. Old tweets cost him the opportunity. This is not only politically correct extremism…but another example of when the gun is pointed in more than one direction.
