‘Greatest cover-up of all time’: House GOP presents evidence of COVID-19 origins, Wuhan lab leak

The legacy media and social media teamed up with Democrats and the WHO to aid and abet the Chinese coverup. They called it a conspiracy theory and “de-platformed” people who dared to mention it.

We’ve all read 1984 and other dystopian visions where the people in power lie to us with impunity, but for some reason we have a hard time believing we’re actually in one of those dystopias.

  1. “During a campaign-style rally in June, Mr. Trump seized on new reports about the virus’ possible origins from the lab. ‘I said it comes out of Wuhan — it comes out of the lab,’ he told supporters.”

This must be the rally that Trump held in Tulsa, June 2020, where he was expecting about a million people to attend and there were only about 6,200. He did not merely suggest that Covid-19 comes from China, but called the disease “Kung Flu.” (Crude people really found that funny.) The media and lots of Dems objected to this because it was a blatant expression of bigotry, with the possibility of an outbreak of violence in America against Asian Americans (which did eventually happen).

When the media raised this objection to Kayleigh Mcenany shortly after the rally, she started rattling off a number of quotations from Dems to indicate that they did think that Covid-19 came from China. But she missed the whole point about calling it “Kung Flu.” One way of insulting or denigrating a race (ethnicity, nationality, etc.) is to refer to them by a distorted term from their own language, like Archie Bunker refusing to eat “Chinky food.”

    1. IOW, a classic example of Trump Derangement Syndrome. They were so upset at Trump’s behavior that they completely lost all professionalism and couldn’t distinguish facts (did the virus originate from the lap) from “we hate Trump.”

      1. It is not derangement to object to the president’s blatant contempt for another ethnicity, which McEnany tried to conceal through a litany of quotations. It is not merely “We hate what Trump does and says because we hate Trump,” but rather “We hate Trump because of what he does and says.” I have seen his apologists (e.g. Shapiro and Prager) trying to make this twist which is probably effective for some people who mentally deficient in one way or another.

        1. You’re missing the point. They can hate Trump all they like. What they can’t do — if they have any shred of professionalism — is decide that the virus couldn’t have come from China because Trump said it. And that’s exactly what they did because they had acute TDS. And they’re so poor at logic that they could not distinguish “We think Trump is a racist because he said these mean things” from the underlying factual claim.

          1. You’re missing the point. There is not any lacking of professionalism in pointing out the president’s racist outbursts, as pointing them out will ultimately help to flush such a lowgrade individual out of the system. It is a rather nebulous area concerning what to do about China. Economic sanctions? War??? But there are mechanisms in the USA to flush out a president who has contempt for certain races, not to mention contempt for America. That is the obvious priority here. They did not have TDS. He had derangement.

          2. PS. In that press conference I saw no one denying that Covid came from China. McEnany in fact quoted a lot of Dems who thought that it did, but I don’t think that there was any mentioned of a lab.

      2. We still don’t know if the virus originated from a lab. I tend to lean that direction. A doctor I follow in Twitter still leans the other way. Maybe she’ll change her mind.

People in the CDC and WHO were saying it originated from the wet markets. IIRC, you were saying we need to shut down the wet markets in China? Why?

In general, most rational people consider non-partisan scientists to be more credible than orange bozo the narcissist. That’s why it probably wasn’t pursued harder. From a psychological POV, I thought Trump was trying to scapegoat to take the focus away from his own failings in dealing with the problem. He got operation warp speed right, but for much of it he was out of his league. Some of the GOP voices now are absolutely bonkers–OK GOP chairman going back to comparisons to Hitler and yellow stars.

        1. No, we’re not sure the virus came from the lab, but we’re very sure it’s not a crackpot idea, and that it should be investigated.

Yes, I did advocate closing down the wet markets, because years ago — after SARS, I think — they had been identified as serious threats for another pandemic.

Unfortunately, most scientists are now either partisan themselves (a small but powerful group), or are afraid to speak because the partisans will attack them.

You better add Trump’s head of CDC, Surgeon General, Press Secretary and few other administration leaders in that number. It was interesting seeing them say one thing then Trump would contradict them and then they would twist themselves into pretzels trying to backtrack. It didn’t matter if it was a lie. Then, when testifying before Congress, they’d contradict him because they were “compelled” to tell the truth.
