While I don’t agree with everything in this article, it raises an interesting question: We Are In a New Civil War … About What Exactly?

I think people have a gut-level feeling that the country is divided, but it’s not always clear where the lines are drawn. Here are some suggestions.

• The woke vs. people with brains
• The elites vs. the common man
• Tradition vs. change (Or, perhaps, rapid change vs. slow change)
• A Republic vs. a Democracy
• Central control vs. local control
• Family authority vs. government authority
• Objective vs. subjective (e.g., sex vs. sexual identity)
• Critical Race Theory vs. people with brains
• America is racist vs. America is the greatest nation on earth
• Collective vs. the individual (guilt, rights, etc.)

It’s tempting to list “facts vs. rhetoric / conspiracies,” but it would be hard to pin that on one side or the other. Both sides seem equally guilty.

You’ve probably heard the story. People who chose to be offended on behalf of native Americans pushed the idea that “redskin” was an ethnic slur, and forced the team to change their name. As an interim step, they chose “The Washington Football Team.”

In early February, the team is going to reveal its new name, new logo, etc.

You may have also heard that the team is losing fans at a tremendous pace, and that they haven’t been good for a long time.

Ads to hype the name change have emphasized continuity with the team’s history, which possibly indicates the new name will be “The Hogs,” which was the name given to the 1980s offensive line. (Back when they were good.)

I don’t know if they can keep me as a fan, no matter what they do.

• I hate it when people capitulate to the woke.
• The NFL as a whole has become annoyingly woke.
• I grew up a fan of the Redskins, not whatever this new thing will be.

Whenever there’s money changing hands, there are people who want to get a piece of it. That’s fine. That’s just business — so long as everyone follows some basic rules.

Unfortunately, money changing hands also attracts people who don’t follow the rules.

This is something like a law of nature. It’s not a surprise. It’s entirely expected, and we need to watch out for it.

The media used to focus on that sort of thing. They watched for corruption, inside dealing, bribes, nepotism ….

Given all that, it’s strange there hasn’t been much attention paid to the huge amount of money being spent on vaccines — despite the fact that there’s strong evidence there’s something fishy going on. One simple example is the suppression of other treatments, and the failure to recommend simple and obvious ways to reduce risk, like getting more Vitamin D and losing weight.

Why the silence over the potential for fraud? It may be because we’re all so grateful for the vaccines, and investigating the finances seems like looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Maybe. I think there’s more to it. And while I’m very thankful for modern technology and the availability of the vaccines, I think more investigation is warranted. There’s simply too much money at stake, and lots of money always means corruption.

“Hey, we don’t pass any legislation, or get anything done, but look at all the impeachments we’re talking about!”

That was clearly Pelosi’s strategy. I think the Democrats learned it from corporate America.

“Sure, we mistreat our employees and do all kinds of wicked things, but hey, look how woke we are!”

Sen. Cruz says that will be the Republican strategy.

Biden deserves to be impeached over the pull-put from Afghanistan, his unwillingness to enforce the border, and because of his obvious mental decline.

Having said that, we can’t allow the political parties to use this as a distraction. They still have a job to do.

Also, if they impeach Biden, that would make Harris president, which might be worse. They really need to impeach both of them. But that would make Kevin McCarthy president, and he’s less than impressive.

I think I’m hoping the Vulcans will visit earth in 2022.
