The party of division and hate

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stepped up his criticism of the Democratic Party, labeling it the party of “division” and “hate” in a recent tweet. He also said that he would vote Republican.

“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party,” the billionaire wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

“But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold …” Source

Whether or not they were ever the party of kindness, he’s right that they are now the party of division and hatred.

Rod Dreher’s challenge

Predictably, some student is calling for George Washington University to change it’s name, and, also predictably, The Washington Post published it.

Rod Dreher gives his opinion about it, and issues this challenge.

My challenge to you is to find a single prominent liberal commentator who forthrightly denounces this repugnant crap. They can’t do it, even if they think it, because they are terrified of the radicals in their midst.

This seems to be the case. The crazy fringe of the left has the rest of the left by the soft parts, and people are scared to speak against them.

Is there a moderate Democrat who has a prayer of getting the Democratic nomination for president?

I’m not a Republican, although every time I had a chance to vote for president, I have voted for the Republican candidate — except for John McCain, who was a wimp (politically, not personally), and proved he had no sense when he chose Sarah Palin.

I’m open to the idea of voting for a reasonable Democrat, because there are some (traditional) Democratic policies I either like or could tolerate. For example, I think strong unions are a good thing (with limits).

A “moderate Democrat” would have to, at a minimum …

1. Accept some restrictions on abortion
2. Have a plan to rein in the mess at the border
3. Reject extreme wokeism (e.g., would say publicly that Lia Thomas is a man and should not be competing against women)
4. Support a strong military

Tulsi Gabbard might be such a person. Any others?
