Russell Brand takes down Ted Cruz

This is very interesting. It starts off with some thoughts about Jan. 6, and how it’s being used to crack down on dissent in general, but later in the video Brand does some hilarious commentary on Tucker Carlson’s interview with Ted Cruz.

I would suggest that Cruz used the word “terrorist” in the typical cowardly Republican way — to go along with the demands of the left rather than having the guts to tell them to go soak their heads.

Evolution by random mutation has always bugged me

The version of evolution I was taught said random mutations are the engine of change for evolution. Natural selection picks which version survives.

I have never been comfortable with that model. I have long felt there’s something much deeper and more mysterious going on — that mutations are controlled or directed at some level — but it’s never interested me enough to spend any time trying to figure it out. I figured somebody would come up with a more reasonable theory eventually.

Maybe this is a step in the right direction. Study challenges evolutionary theory that DNA mutations are random

It turns out that mutation is very non-random and it’s non-random in a way that benefits the plant. It’s a totally new way of thinking about mutation.

Is Spotify a publisher or a platform?

Hundreds of doctors have signed a petition asking Spotify to “take action” against Joe Rogan.

Though Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, the company presently has no misinformation policy.

That quote highlights the problem. If Spotify is a publisher, it does have responsibility for the content it releases. If Spotify is a “platform,” it does not.

Congress is seriously derelict in its duty on this one. This issue should have been handled many years ago.
