If you haven’t heard it yet, check out Rich Men North of Richmond, which has rocketed to the top of the charts recently.
The appeal seems to be its anti-elite message. I’ve heard that Mr. Anthony is against both political parties because he thinks they both have the same agenda — to perpetuate the power of the elite against and over the working class.
The song itself is fairly interesting. It’s a bit “yelly” for me, and it could do with some more instrumentation, but I generally like it.

Pigweed and I watched Oppenheimer over the weekend, which got me thinking about nuclear bombs. I’ve been reading up on them a bit. It’s fascinating and terrifying stuff.
In Star Trek lore, it was Zefram Cochrane’s warp drive that got the attention of the Vulcans and caused them to make first contact with Earth.
Why is warp drive the trigger? Why not nuclear bombs? That seems far more significant.
All a warp drive does is manipulate space-time so you can go faster than light. That doesn’t seem as big a deal as splitting the atom.
I guess the logic is that if you want to split the atom and destroy your own planet, that’s your problem, but if you have warp drive you can take your insanity elsewhere and mess with other people.
However, if Star Fleet is a humanitarian outfit, you’d think they’d want to find planets that had learned to make nukes and guide them in the right direction before they discovered warp technology.
The bad news is that it doesn’t seem like there are any nice people out there who want to guide us through this mess we’ve created, so we’re stuck with idiot politicians.
It’s actually a wonder we’ve survived this long.

You can’t threaten to shoot the president. Law enforcement has to take that seriously.
But I fear law enforcement is getting a little too addicted to the idea of early morning, armed raids on civilians. I’m not sure that’s exactly what happened here, but it seems likely.
There have been too many situations recently where law enforcement used way too much force. E.g., the arrest of Roger Stone.
Who’s keeping an eye on this?
These are priests who were laicized, or otherwise prohibited from their duties, because they were too political, or too conservative.
