How wokeness leads to totalitarianism

Wokeness teaches people to hide what they believe and lie about what they believe to avoid problems with the people in power. This mindset is precisely what a totalitarian government requires to operate. People need to be willing to spout the party line when they don’t believe it, and to look the other way when injustices are done.

  1. How is that different from anything else?

A guy who is a pastor who starts questioning things… well, he has to stuff it….for out of fear.

What was the inquisition about in Spain? That was the opposite of woke…a catholic kingdom. You could say what you want without recrimination? How did it work out for Galileo in Italy?

Heck, how afraid are Republicans to speak out against Trump? They’re in terror of what Trump will do and they’re afraid of getting primaried. Republicans can’t even say that the behavior of Trump on the 6th was…. deplorable, to use a word.

Troops are being sent to protect the inauguration because a bunch of snowflakes can’t accept that their orange bozo didn’t win again.

Today we visited OKC and we stopped by the memorial at the old Murrah Federal Building where radicalized right wing terrorist Timothy McVeigh killed over 150 Americans. Standing there looking at all the empty chairs representing the people who were killed in the bombing, I couldn’t help but think that the mindset of those who looted the Capitol aren’t all that different from the mindset of McVeigh. Congress really dodged a bullet that none of them got hurt and Pence didn’t get lynched. Those folks were there to do some real harm. Certainly more harm than Trump getting banned from his personal Twitter account.

    1. Hmm, I see. Wokeness is just like other totalitarian systems where, if you don’t toe the party line, you get your career ruined, go to a concentration camp, or maybe get shot. I see. Good point. It’s just normal, 20th century values.

  2. There are always social norms that you must comply with to some extent. Just think of how it was if you were gay a few decades ago. Or think of how it was if you thought that communism is essentially not such a bad idea. There are always people who have to keep their behaviors and opinions hidden. Moreover, I really don’t think you can have totalitarianism until you radicalize a substantial portion of the population, as this has been achieved in Trumpism. Social justice warriors may be annoying and they indeed do some harm, but it is unjustified hyperbole to speak of totalitarianism as a result of wokeness.

    1. Considering the day…yes, and if you said black people were equal to whites in the South in the 1950s, you’d be ostracized by all those freedom loving good American people of the South. Might even end up with a fiery display of religion in your front yard by men in white vestments.

    1. Maybe. And thanks for the link.

I’ve heard similar stories about people fleeing China for freedom, only to discover we’re starting to do some of the same stupid stuff they were running from.
