Why does the moderator get to set the agenda and ask the questions? Why not let the candidates ask each other what they want to talk about?

Pretty boring. But that’s not a bad thing. Let’s get back to boring!
This was an interesting attempt at a non-partisan pundit review of the VP debate, focusing on the candidates’ performance, policy issues and efficacy of debates. Overall, they seemed to conclude the debate was indeed more civil but not impactful to the race nor informative to voters.
