I was wondering how something like two-factor authentication could be used to ensure that mail-in votes are accurately counted, and I quickly came up with several ways to audit the election, but then I also quickly came to another conclusion.
Solving the problem of voter fraud is less important than demagoging about voting.
Or, more broadly, demagoging is more important than solving problems. Any problems.
Our politicians hardly even try to pass legislation any more. Appealing to their base is far more important.
QUOTE: Do politicians care about voter fraud?
It seems our president does. Yet, it’s extremely rare. According to one think tank, there’s been 1,277 “proven instances of voter fraud” in the 50 states over decades, dating back to 1979. When found, it has occurred in red states with the most recent in NC with Republicans being the culprits. Ironically, one study found states that have stricter voting procedures have higher fraud incidents that states that have less strict procedures. Overall, citizens should be strongly encouraged to vote and politicians should be taking efforts to make voting more accessible while maintaining adequate security.

#TRUTH!
Have you read the stories about the mess in the New York primary that used mail-in ballots?
Have you read about the shenanigans that are suddenly occurring within the US postal service? Kinda makes you wonder…why now?
That’s said, maybe it’s just me but I would think politicians would concentrate their efforts on finding ways to securely and safely facilitate the right to vote for as many citizens as possible (especially during the time of a public health crisis). No system is flawless, but history has demonstrated that by and large mail-in ballots have been secure. Even Trump agrees with this for “Florida” voters. He says it “safe and secure” there. So, maybe…just maybe…other states can learn from their example? Could it be that Florida handles that system better than they manage Covid-19?

Trump says what he wants to say on a day to day basis.
Did you know the postal workers’ union just endorsed Biden? Should we trust them to play it safe?
There have to be ways to make mail-in ballots safe. The government should be focusing on that, rather than just playing games and scoring cheap points.

You mean like his vacillating on: wearing masks, having a healthcare plan by the first week of August or his view on China? It wasn’t so long ago he said, “we have a tremendous relationship with China, which is a very positive thing.” Yet, if vacillating on a day to day basis is an acceptable standard for Trump, Republicans better apply that standard to the next Democrat POTUS.

Did you know the new Postmaster General is a major Trump donor? Do we trust him to play it safe? After all, he’s already implemented new procedures that “seem” to militate against an effective and timely mail-in voting process.

#TOTALLYAGREE. Why wouldn’t they do that, especially during a time when public health is critical factor? Yet, we see the POTUS suggesting the election will be “rigged” (one of his greatest hits from 2016) if done by mail. Maybe he’s right, it may be rigged. After all, didn’t he oppose mail-in but willing to make an exception for a Republican led state? So, Florida can do it but Nevada is now being sued for attempting a similar process? Trump’s campaign demanded an apology, retraction and issued a Cease and Desist to CNN for releasing a poll that indicated he was losing to Biden. Didn’t Trump recently propose delaying the election? Hmm…I suppose voters are to believe his actions are normal and legitimate??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I562JHh8reM
There are certainly politicians who are trying the use the fear of voter fraud in their attempt to stay in office.
