They’re going to have to start showing their work

The number of “not even remotely credible” things we keep hearing is getting to be too much.

The Secret Service can’t identify who brought the cocaine into the White House?

The FBI isn’t trying to protect Joe and Hunter Biden?

The Justice Department hasn’t been on a crusade against conservatives?

It’s possible that these things are true, but we have no reason to believe them. In fact, the default assumption should be that the people with power are lying to you.

If they want to establish any sort of credibility, they’re going to have to let people see their work.

Generally speaking, when it comes to politicians, this is a good assumption. Yet, it rarely gets applied consistently. Those that “like” the ones in authority tend to believe them unconditionally (even when they are caught red-handed). It’s only when they don’t like those in authority that they ask to see their work. Funny how that happens.

That said, it seemed to severely stretch credulity when the Secret Service couldn’t produce critical text communications surrounding the January 6 attack. They just happened to be deleted ? Oops?

The FBI wasn’t trying to protect Justice Kavanaugh (by not conducting an in-depth investigation of critical allegations relative to his SCOTUS confirmation)? Nor, were they trying to protect the Trump family relative to potential Hatch Act violations and use of private emails for official government business?

Independent Council Ken Starr wasn’t on a witch hunt of the Clintons? Albeit commissioned to investigate Whitewater he ended up with Lewinsky?
