Revival, then and now

Tonight, Pigweed and Crowhill are going to record a show about the history of religious revivals in America, and compare that with what happened at Asbury University.

Any questions, thoughts, or things you’d like us to discuss?

  1. *Definition of a revival
*What scripture says or illustrates relative to revivals
*Core elements and types of revivals in history
*Impact and value (individually and socially) of authentic revivals
*How to maintain the positive effects of a revival beyond the “event”

    1. Pigweed could have gone into the etymology of Calvary. Please tell him how disappointed I am. I am sure he will lose sleep… In English, we hear of Calvary and not Golgotha in hymns and such.

I learned a little when learning Spanish. In town, there is a Mexican restaurant named Calaveras. It has a whole bunch of skull decorations. Asked the wife if calaveras had any meaning in Spanish and she said skulls.

Knowing that Spanish is mostly derived from Latin, and seeing calavera is not so dissimilar to calvary, and knowing the bible says Golgotha is the place of the skull, I looked up the Latin for skulL: calveria.

So, I guess whenever Jerome translated the bible into Latin, it became Calveria and later anglicized into something like Calvary.

    2. Okay, I’m DONE!!! 🙂 You guys were HILARIOUS when speaking about the Canadian women’s power lifting championship! Definitely Grade A trolling. I literally laughed out loud…touché!
