There’s a lot of political bickering about how the Trump case is different than the Biden or Hillary case (or vice versa), but I seem to recall that Congress has been leaking classified information for decades. IOW, as much as I love the fact that Biden is being dragged through the mud right now, there is a larger problem. We’re simply not protecting our secrets well enough.
Mike Pence: Classified documents found at former vice-president’s home
It indeed seems to be a long-standing systemic issue that needs to be fixed. Like the Southern border, I suspect those that have the authority to fix it won’t because there’s too much political capital to gain by playing “gotcha” with anyone who’s caught (despite many likely doing the same but not exposed). After all, it worked like a charm in 2016….why not keep it going?
Despite “real” security risks, it’s seems there’s more energy in engaging in political shenanigans than effective security solutions. With Hillary, despite investigation outcomes, it was “lock her up”. With Biden, it’s a security breach of epic proportions, given the “Hunter” factor….four alarm alert… “Warning Will Robinson, danger, danger!”. With Trump, it’s the government has been weaponized to deny him his rights as a former president to keep whatever classified documents he desires (despite actual security risks-arrested Chinese national, lies and obstruction). With Pence, it’s already being diminished as a simple administrative error….despite the facts or risks not being fully known. If I recall correctly, there was a similar attitude when it was found that Pence (Ivanka and Jared), like Hillary, used personal email for official government business.
I’d be willing to pay a mint if ALL of current cast of characters could be “fired” and “regular” people, who “really” wanted to do public service, could be placed in power. Alas, that’s a pipe dream I doubt I will see in my lifetime…I suspect my children won’t either.
