“Dark Brandon” started off as a Chinese meme that mocked Joe Biden. It was then taken up as a theme for t-shirts and has now — based on Biden’s recent speeches — been adopted as a good strategy by the White House. I heard clips recently of happy Democrats, gleeful that they’ve unleashed “Dark Brandon.”
Good.
Generally speaking, I like things to stay civil among politicians. I like them to say “my distinguished colleague from New York,” and “the gentleman from Kentucky,” and so on. I like them to dress decently, avoid using profanity, and maintain an acceptable public decorum.
But “generally speaking” doesn’t apply to the absolute insanity we’re living through. The two parties aren’t arguing about how much gun control we need, or how much we should spend on social programs. They’re at war. Democrats hate and mistrust Republicans and Republicans hate and mistrust Democrats.
I don’t like saying this, but it’s about damn time.
Democrats have been pushing completely insane policies.
- Allowing men to compete in women’s sports.
- Teaching children to hate their country.
- Insisting that boys and men are toxic.
- Promoting a divisive and incoherent “diversity” ethic.
- Failing to protect the border.
And those are just the insane policies. There are also lots of misguided / stupid policies, like …
- Opposing fossil fuels when they don’t have a realistic replacement.
- Spending lots of money during a recession.
- Revitalizing Obama’s naive Iran deal.
- Promoting misguided bail / policing reform.
I could go on, but it’s not to the point. The point is that the Democrats have been waging an aggressive war against traditional America for a very long time, but they’ve been able to hide behind the false (but somehow marketable) idea that they’re the nice guys who love tolerance and acceptance and kindness, and it’s only The Bad Orange Man and his followers who are causing all the trouble.
Biden — and through Biden, the Democratic establishment — has finally, openly owned this hatred. Those who oppose their agenda are “full of anger, violence, hate.” They are a threat to the Republic.
Very good. Give in to the dark side, Brandon. Maybe conservative America will finally wake up to what we’re facing here.
This is not your father’s politics, where the Democrats say “let’s do all this,” and the Republicans say, “okay, but only half.”
It’s far more serious.
Just as the parents of school children finally (belatedly) realized how nutty school had become when they could see it on Zoom at the kitchen table, the public is finally seeing the clash of these two ideologies.
They are diametrically opposed. One must die.
Dark Brandon has pulled back the veil. America will now see what’s at stake.
Do we have the balls to deal with it?
Both sides can verbally put forward whatever policies they like, as long as they don’t threaten the rest of America with violence, as we have seen recently from Lindsay Graham and Trump (and of course as we have seen from the latter repeatedly). Biden has not threatened people with violence.
You know, I was following until the middle of the post and then it somehow went “left”. 😉
Indeed, both sides have disdain for each other. The political system is built to have dynamic tension. So, it’s to be expected. Yet, your assessment of the political landscape is woefully lacking. A few years ago, I may have agreed that the Dems approach to politics was more egregious than Republicans. But, no longer given what I’ve witness over the past few years. Republicans have…
*Staged the Jan 6 riot
*Threatened law enforcement
*Lied about the outcomes of the 2020 election
*Conducted voter fraud and unethically breached voting systems
*Made death threats to congressional leaders and judges
*Developed a kidnapping plot against a Democratic governor
*Armed protests—with the intent to intimidate Dem government officials
*Political ads intimating gun violence against political opponents
*Accosted conservative congressional leader because they worked on bi-partisan legislation
*Manipulated congressional rules to secure SCOTUS nominees
*Declaration to succeed from the US
*Sent bombs to prominent Dems and media organization
*Supported charlatan Alex Jones in terrorizing victims of a horrific mass shooting
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Again, some Dem rhetoric is detrimental but I don’t see anything comparable to what Republicans are doing. So, I can’t take seriously criticism of the Dems and Dark Brandon when the dangerous/violent behaviors of Republicans and Agent Orange aren’t taken into account of what America needs to see.
QUOTE: Democrats have been pushing completely insane policies.
Hmm…are you certain your list of partisan grievances is fully accurate???
Allowing men to compete in women’s sports.
Agreed—this is deception with a premise built upon lunacy. It’s right up there with Republicans declaring the 2020 election was stolen with no evidence that could withstand scrutiny within a court of law. As well, Republicans making an official declaration of succeeding from the US.
Teaching children to hate their country.
I’m not familiar with this effort. I’ve heard Republicans misrepresent an effort by Dems to teach children an accurate accounting of US history (e.g., Trail of Tears, Tulsa Massacre, Wilmington Insurrection of 1898, Japanese interment camps, etc.) . If teaching the unvarnished truth of US history is hate, then I suspect the Dems would be guilty as charged. Interestingly, Republicans have started to burn and ban books (in some cases the books they oppose are not physically located where they desire to have them banned).
Insisting that boys and men are toxic.
I’ve not seen this. Yet, I’ve heard Republicans misrepresent an effort by Dems to call out masculinity extremes and encourage men and boys to be aware of and avoid them.
Promoting a divisive and incoherent “diversity” ethic.
I’m not sure what’s inherently divisive about a diversity ethic. Yet, I’ve seen some over emphasis on some aspects of diversity but the overall ethic seemed aimed at illustrating the benefits of diversity in society and business. Interestingly, this seems apropos given the highly diverse population of the United States. Wouldn’t it be amazing if this country could find a way to use those differences to build a better nation?
Failing to protect the border.
For all the demagoguery by Republicans and Trump, you think their record of managing this issue would be better than Dems. No wall was built (despite illegal schemes to accomplish that…thanks Steve Bannon). Record levels of migrant crossings during the Trump administration. ICE arrests rose during Trump’s administration but remained lower than much of Obama’s administration. Trump’s record of removing unauthorized immigrants was below that of Obama’s. Actually, both have been abysmal failures on this issue. Yet, what seems most apparent is that neither party wants to solve the problem because it provides too much political fodder to attack the other. So, it’s people that suffer due to the selfishness and ineptness of both parties.
Opposing fossil fuels when they don’t have a realistic replacement.
Albeit all that’s proposed by Dems is not realistic, there are some that have realistic potential. Yet, where were the plethora of alternatives implemented during Trump’s administration?
Spending lots of money during a recession.
LOL!!!! That’s laughable given history. The United States has had 17 recessions over the past 100 years. There have been 13 Republican leadership recessions, including the absolute biggest downturns: the Great Depression and the recessions of 1981, 2007, and 2020. There have been 4 Democrat leadership recessions. If you count now (which is still debated amongst economists), it would be 5…no comparison.
Democrats are spendthrifts, right? If so, why do we see the following dynamic? President Ronald Reagan inherited from President Jimmy Carter a deficit of $78.9 billion, according to Politifact. When he left office, it was $152.6 billion. When his successor, President George H.W. Bush, left office, it was $255 billion. President Bill Clinton cleaned up the mess. By the time Clinton left office the federal budget was in surplus to the tune of $236 billion. President George W. Bush, whose vice president famously said the lesson from Reagan’s presidency was that deficits didn’t matter, eliminated the surplus in record time with income-tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; when President Bush left office, the deficit was $1.41 trillion. President Barack Obama halved that to $584.6 billion. Trump pushed it back up to $3.1 trillion, and Biden last year nosed it down to $2.8 trillion.
Revitalizing Obama’s naive Iran deal.
Isn’t it interesting that after Trump withdrew from the naive deal that Iran’s nuclear capability increased. As well, Trump’s administration failed to get a better deal.
Promoting misguided bail/policing reform.
Republicans are the paragons of good law enforcement policy? The same ones that mocked the police attacked by the Republican/Trump-supporting mob during the Jan 6 riot? The same that have launched violent threats against law enforcement and judges? The same ones that saw no problem with police practices in the George Floyd arrest and murder??? Nah, that’s not misguided at all, right?
Ah, but Republican presidents can do all kinds of stuff by just thinking about it.
One has to wonder if the kinda stuff that recently former and future Republican presidents “think” is “legal” or “constitutional”. Who would have “ever” thought that would be a question of the alleged “law and order” party??? :-/. It’s almost as ironic as the king of “LIES” owning a platform named “TRUTH”. You can’t make this stuff up!

Seems the sweetheart of the GOP, Marjorie Taylor Greene, has gotten the memo…

The fascinating thing is that when some Republicans utter rhetoric of this ilk, they are alleged truth-telling patriots fighting for our nation. Yet, if Democrats make like statements they are considered “angry”, “divisive” and potentially “dangerous” to democracy. Funny how that works.
Maybe she sounds too “sweet” or too “thin” for some people.
