Today, in the city of Utopia

The wise council of elders invested in a next-gen nuclear plant to actually (really, no, we’re not kidding or playing games) cut their reliance on fossil fuels. Once this plant comes online they will be able to safely and affordably wean the city off oil and natural gas, without causing any price disruptions.

That’s what I wanted to say in response to a post on LinkedIn where somebody is praising some dumb jurisdiction that’s investing in solar power. The trouble is that LinkedIn (like most social media) is full of liberals, and while you can always tell a liberal, it’s usually wise not to. Wherever you find lots of liberals, you will find lots of intolerant, unthoughtful, unreflective, narrow-minded people. It’s best to just be polite and leave them to their fantasies.

Maybe I need to see the post in question, but I fail to see the issue with acknowledging positive aspects of solar energy…especially if can be produced cost-effectively and safely.

Given that description, you’d think they were the mob responsible for the riot at the Capitol Building…calling for the hanging of the VP of the United States. As well, advocating “RINO hunting” to intimidate their own party members, booing and accosting their own political leaders at conventions, burning school books, proclaiming Texas should withdraw from the US, sending bombs to political opponents/media, protesting at election officials homes/issuing death threats, plotting the kidnapping of a governor, endorsing a brazen homosexual (Milo Y.) while condemning homosexuality and promulgating allegations of a mythical Kraken that would yield overwhelming evidence of widespread election fraud (still to be seen). Alas, these weren’t the actions of intolerant, unthoughtful liberals.

That said, ISTM your description could aptly fit liberals and conservatives.

  2. I am not very active in Linkedln. I get emails about people there, but I do not respond unless someone directly messages me. You probably just have a lot of liberal connections there, probably through business. Judging from my Facebook friends, I would come to the conclusion that it is on fire with rightwing lunatics. One surely can’t argue with those people. Tell them that the election wasn’t stolen and they will call you “far left” so fast it will make your head swim. But that is mainly because of family ties in Deep Red (now highly repulsive) KY. Their friends then try to connect with me, and it eventually gets out of control. So I am not very active there either.

    1. There is certainly a selection problem. I’m in publishing, which is a very liberal industry, generally speaking.

If this is an accurate description of liberals, what description applies to conservatives that make threats against their own they disagree with? Congressman Adam Kinzinger is regularly getting violent threats from Trump supporters (see compilation link below). Right-wing social media participants are now calling for Liz Cheney to be executed…“Making Guillotines Great Again”.
