Stop the abuse! Let Biden retire in peace.

This morning I heard some clips of Joe Biden from two years ago. He sounded sharp and alert. I didn’t agree with what he was saying, of course, but he sounded like a man in full possession of his faculties.

We’ve all heard clips of him from the past few weeks and months. The man is deteriorating before our eyes. It’s ridiculously obvious, and it’s past time for somebody to end this.

It’s elder abuse to put this man out there as a candidate for president. He’s getting worse by the month, and if there are any debates this fall, …. Well. It will be very sad.

I don’t know if I have ever liked or agreed with Joe Biden, but it’s simply wrong to let him do this, and the party has to intervene.

There comes a time when you have to take the keys away from your father and tell him that he can’t drive anymore. It’s a hard thing to do, but it has to be done.

  1. I think there needs to be pressure for him to appear live in his lawn with “socially distant” news conferences. Let’s see if he can actually converse under the pressure of unexpected questions.

    1. That’s a good idea, so long as the media includes conservatives. It won’t be as useful if it’s just Democrat media tossing him softballs.

  2. Greg,

So I found your blog again. I thought you had taken it down for good. I hope that you are well!

I am puzzled that the Democrats seemed poised to run Biden. Trump is very flawed and is certainly beatable in November. Moreover, many Democrats have long argued that he is a threat to the Republic. I personally don’t buy that and can easily think of presidents off the top of my head (LBJ, Nixon) who were worse than Trump. Still, Trump is far from ideal, to put things mildly.

With all that said, if you start from the premise that Trump is so horrible, and even a threat to the Republic, as many Democrats seem to do, wouldn’t you run someone against him who doesn’t have the baggage that Biden has and especially someone who isn’t in such steep cognitive decline as Biden? I mean seriously, it is really clear from his interviews, campaign appearances and debates over the past year or so, and it has gotten worse recently, that Biden has major cognitive issues, possibly the early onset of dementia. Biden has managed to largely stay out of the public because of the coronavirus, which keeps his problems out of the forefront of most people’s minds. Nonetheless, he won’t be able to do this forever. By the fall, and especially with the debates, Biden’s mental facilities (and increasingly his lack thereof) will become clear to the public.

The Democrats had a huge field of candidates to choose from this year. So why have they seemed to have settled on Biden, who may well not be mentally fit for the presidency? Not having dementia or some other cognitive disorder is a pretty basic qualification for the presidency. Unless the DNC intends for Biden to serve as a sock puppet for someone else (or a group of people) to really be the power behind the throne, this doesn’t make any sense. Of course, if they intend for Biden to be a sock puppet, it is fair to ask who really would be running the show were he to somehow beat Trump.

    1. Glad you came back!

I had to close the blog because I was (very foolishly) working for a bunch of social justice warriors. Fortunately, I am now working for sane and reasonable people.

Anyway, I agree with your points. Trump is very beatable, but I can’t imagine Biden winning — unless everybody assumes/knows that Biden is only a placeholder, and the real contest is between Trump and Biden’s VP nominee. In that case, “Biden” could beat Trump.

The selection of the VP candidate is going to be crucial. I’m worried that it’s going to be that shrill scold Elizabeth Warren, and that we’re going to have to listen to that hectoring voice for four years.

  3. Greg,

That makes sense. I’m sorry you experienced that, although I’m glad that you now work for reasonable people. I’ll continue to come back to your blog from time to time as I have found it interesting in the past.

I agree with you about Biden’s VP pick. It will be much more crucial than past VP picks because of the high likelihood that the VP will end up as president were Biden to win. While there is no perfect candidate for VP, and I’m not a partisan Democrat in the first place, personally I think that Klobuchar is his best bet, both politically and for the office of VP itself. Relatively speaking, she is more “moderate.” She is also from the Midwest and from a working class background. The possibly candidates who I think are more flawed and who I personally dislike are Warren, Harris and Abrams. They are all a bunch of shrill phonies. Warren mainly appeals to educated, professional left-wing women. She would be toxic for working class people in the Midwest, people that Biden must win over to win the election. The same goes for Harris. As I am from Georgia, I can tell you from state politics that Abrams is horrible. She’s a SJW, moonlighted as an author of trashy romance novels (a.k.a. porn for women) and made outrageous, unsubstantiated charges of voter suppression. She was also a sore loser when she lost the gubernatorial race in 2018 as she refused to accept the results, the very behavior Democrats thought Trump would do in October 2016 when they were sure that Clinton would win. I had voted for Democrats for governor the last two cycles (2010 and 2014) before 2018 because the previous two candidates they ran were better on education than the Republicans and were not SJW types. With Abrams, I switched over to vote for Kemp (the Republican), even though he didn’t excite me. I mainly voted against Abrams, not for Kemp. Anyway, if Biden must have an African-American woman as VP, I hope he chooses someone like Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms (who at least is competent and not a fraud) instead of a character like Harris or Abrams. Anyway…
