The “reject intolerance, hatred and racism” message may be losing its appeal

By all means let’s reject intolerance, hatred and racism, but it’s become “the boy who cried wolf.” People are realizing that just because someone calls something intolerant, racist or hateful doesn’t make it so.

Trudeau’s words v. reality

I take no position on this trucker thing in Canada, because I don’t know enough about it. But I am sick of certain politicians defaulting to the same stale message every time they disagree with something.

  1. I’d question the judgment of anyone who seriously thought the video in the tweet is reflective of the sum total of Canadian’s reality.

    1. Right. If you believe that’s the “sum total,” you’re wrong. If you believe Trudeau’s words accurately characterize the overall situation, you’re wrong. That’s what the video proves, and I don’t think it asserts that it’s the “sum total.”

  2. Albeit I don’t have a dog in this fight, I found some interesting ironies. Some protesting indicate they can’t work but their actions are potentially shutting down a number of working class people. As well, some US supporters are decrying another country’s border regulations being too restrictive…the same say US border regulations aren’t restrictive enough. Also, that foreign asylum seekers aren’t vaccinated and could potentially spread the virus in the US.

  3. Isn’t this interesting…Canadian trucker protestors are now swearing themselves in as “peace officers” (Canadian Common Corps of Peace Officers) that are endowed with the power to detain and arrest…claiming to have the same power as government sanctioned police. This seems to have been born out of the Sovereign Citizen’s Movement (that believe they are exempt from laws and taxes). Why is this starting to feel like another version of the US Jan. 6 “patriots”…preparing for an uprising against the government?
