Is it really about health?

I saw this headline — Biden Calls on Companies to Mandate COVID-19 Vaccination — and wondered if he’d do that if the demographics were different.

As a general rule, political conservatives are more likely to be suspicious of the Covid vaccine than liberals. If it was the other way around, would Democrats be pushing for vaccines? I don’t think so.

  1. Yes, it is about health. Over 600,000 Americans have already died because of it and counting…even some skeptics have now come to realize this. So, measures need to be taken to help mitigate the spread, hospitalization and death rate. What those measures are will continued to be debated. Yet, it’s beyond the time we need to be asking if this is really about health.

Frankly, it’s shouldn’t be about politics at all…but sadly…that’s where we are today. The more those political games get played and ignorance abounds about what it takes to move forward…the more likely people will continue to needlessly get sick and die.

    1. I’ll believe it’s about health when they require everyone crossing the southern border to be vaccinated.

      1. Obviously, you are free to believe what you like. Yet, the fact of the matter is this is a deadly virus and it will continue if measures aren’t taken. Despite people’s political opinions, biology will win 100% of the time. Just sayin’.

  2. Well, there’s the side of science, and there is the opposition. I think most Dems trusted Fauci even when he was employed and used by the other side. Lots of Repugs didn’t.

I think if Fauci said, don’t stick a needle in your eye, some of your people would say, “look at this,” and stick needles in their eyes just to spite Fauci.

Some Dems like Harris did cast doubts on the Trump vaccine. Who would trust Trump? If Trump was president, I hope Dems would be for measures to prevent the spread. No one knows for sure what the opposition will do.

    1. Just a few of days ago Trump recommended taking the vaccine. When he met with a less than enthusiastic response to this at his rally (few cheers and even some boos) he was quick to tell the crowd he was quick to say that they have their freedoms. It looks like the tables are turning. Maybe he could still shoot someone on Madison Avenue with impunity as far as his base is concerned, but heaven forbid if he recommends taking the vaccine. He is not controlling them any more. They are controlling him. Of course he will go with the flow because he knows on what side his bread is buttered, but his pride will surely be wounded, as it should have been long ago because he is totally lacking in any notable quality of good character. Now it looks like his base are relentlessly pursuing the path of irrationality and are willing to trash their erstwhile leader if he doesn’t succumb to their wishes. He unleashed this crazy multitude of lowgrade people upon the USA and they ain’t gonna let anyone – not even Trump – “fauci” them. So yeah, we have health considerations on one side and Trump’s base on the other, and those people are indeed truly base.
