Because I don’t like him, and Smitemouth seems to think the only reason I don’t like people is because they’re women.
I’m not sure what it is about Gaetz that rubs me the wrong way, but something does.
I’m also not sure what I think about yesterday’s news.
On the pro side …
Republicans have a deep-seated “we are the minority and have to compromise” mentality. It’s woven into their personalities, and they have to get past it. They have to learn to fight. McCarthy was not a fighter.
On the con side …
Republicans have a very slim majority in the House, and you can only do so much in that position. Maybe compromise is the best they can do.

Well, Jim Jordan is emerging as an early candidate for Speaker. He seems to have the respect of the MAGA crowd and traditional Republicans…so maybe he will be more successful? With him at the helm, I suspect there will be lots of fights with Dems. Yet, it would be interesting to have a Speaker that is suppose to represent the “rule of law” but dodged a lawfully issued congressional subpoena.
Albeit you don’t like Gaetz, he is a fighter too…despite his scorched earth approach. He kept his promise. He said he was going after McCarthy and he did just that…without fear or favor of many of his Republican colleagues.
I’m not saying there’s nothing to admire about Gaetz. For example, I think he doesn’t take any money from PACs or interest groups, which is very good.
There’s just something about him. I think it’s his aura. Or maybe he’s the wrong astrological sign.

In other news, some are floating Trump to be the next Speaker! There would DEFINITELY be fighting with that one! Maybe nothing would get done…but man, oh man, what a fight! 🙂
I will briefly pipe up. I didn’t say the only reason you don’t like someone is because they are a woman. Obviously, you have a wife…so you like women. But I did say it’s no surprise you don’t like Haley…and I’ll leave it at that. This is a public forum with prying/spying eyes eager to lash out at any perceive EID transgression.
Obviously my post was a joke, but I do think the way some people deal with criticisms of women are a disservice to women.
E.g., when someone calls a woman bossy, that just means she’s a leader.
Oh, are women incapable of being bossy?
It infantalizes women whenever someone says something on the order of “you only say that because she’s a woman.”
