Bud Light sales continue to drop, down 21.4% following trans-activist partnership
I would like to believe we’ve reached peak woke, and corporations will learn a lesson from this, but I don’t think that’s true.
A public record of some of my thoughts. Feel free to comment, but don't expect me to respond.

Maybe people are coming to their senses? Why was BL the #1 seller? I can’t think of the marketing off hand. I remember Budweiser commercials, and Miller Lite commercials (and Coors and Hamms and Olympia)… but I can’t think of a BL commercial. What was the image they were projecting? Damn if I know.
As in your taste test Lite tastes more like real beer. A couple years ago I had bought in a short period Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Lite. Of the 3, I liked Miller Lite the best–more like a real beer. My wife always preferred Bud Light and I always think of it as a girl’s beer.
It might be good marketing, or it could be that some people actually prefer Bud Light. I’m not sure.
Why does this sound so familiar??? Oh yes, it’s the same kinda hoopla that surrounded the launch of #Walkaway…when it was expected that people would leave the Democrat Party in droves! There were ample stories and celebration but it didn’t materialize. The same with Nike, Starbucks, Amazon and Keurig. Despite all the conservative arm-waving, it seems these brands survived…some thrived. Oh well, maybe the Bud Light effort has a chance of succeeding and finally giving conservatives a win? We’ll see.
That said, why is it that when the right boycotts it’s accompanied with overtures of violence? You had some shooting cans of Bud Light. Some burned their Nike gear. Some smashed their Keurig products. What happened to simply “walking away”?

Well, I’m pretty sure the data is real about sales going down. Lots of normal people are sick of all this trans stuff and getting chastised for saying “Bruce” Jenner instead of “Caitlyn” Jenner. We buy lots of stuff simply by habit…especially things like drinks. When someone has a reason to try something else, they might try that something else and go, “Hey, not so bad. Think I’ll buy this next time.” Whereas they really wouldn’t have tried something else if not given a reason.
Anheiser-Busch can’t apologize now either because if they do, they’ll lose a percentage of their sales that woke people buy and maybe still not get back the normal people.
Oh, I believe the current sales decline. I’m waiting to see if this will be their demise. Conservatives don’t seem to have a good track record “cancelling” companies. Yet, time will tell.
In another post, I pointed out the A-B is between a rock and a hard place on this one because they’ve already ticked off both sides. The LGBT community feels forsaken, given A-B’s initial knee-jerk, milquetoast response to the controversy. So, it seems they don’t have anyone to come to their rescue. This should be interesting.
Despite calls to boycott Bud Light, an exclusive poll conducted on April 24, 2023 by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on behalf of Newsweek revealed that 88 percent of people who previously bought Bud Light would continue to do so and 53 percent supported the brand’s partnership with Mulvaney.

Bud Light sales have been declining for years, but this situation has “snowballed” and made its troubles even more pronounced, according to one industry analyst.
Yet, A-B may have sealed it’s own fate by it’s response to this controversy. Not only have they ruffled the feathers of conservatives but given their milquetoast response they have ruffled the feathers of the LGBT community too. Interestingly, both their legacy and expanded markets have the same issue…they don’t feel the company has strongly expressed their position and stood up for “them”. So, when you’ve got both sides against ya…it makes it much more challenging to recover.
I suppose the lesson learned for AB is…”stand strong for something” instead of trying to appease all meekly. Seems companies like Nike, Amazon and Starbucks learned that lesson well…as they leaned into the controversy, took a solid position and went forward. For them, it made all the difference as the businesses withstood the attempted right-wing “cancelling”.
