The Jesus Revolution

Mrs. C and I saw it last night. It’s worth watching. I expected more of a documentary about the Jesus movement. It was more of a love story, set against the background of the Jesus movement.

The movie is very relevant because (by some counts) we’re overdue for another revival in the United States.

Personally, I think that’s the only chance we survive as a nation (in anything like our current form).

  1. I grew up hearing people saying crazy stuff about Jesus. God help us from them!

    1. Yes, but there does seem to be an interesting dynamic going on. It’s like the crazy people are the top of the funnel, bringing people into the church, but the more orthodox, traditional folk are catechizing them (or some of them).

Some organizations and individuals stay at that “top of the funnel / crazy” part, but some have a different trajectory. They get involved for questionable reasons, but they learn and change.

I think it’s a constant battle. There will always be charismatic leaders who are a little weird. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to cut them off entirely.
