The party of division and hate

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stepped up his criticism of the Democratic Party, labeling it the party of “division” and “hate” in a recent tweet. He also said that he would vote Republican.

“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party,” the billionaire wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

“But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold …” Source

Whether or not they were ever the party of kindness, he’s right that they are now the party of division and hatred.

  1. Democrats, though certainly not a model of perfection by any means, have not done anything nearly as divisive and hateful as promoting the Big Lie of election fraud and inciting an insurrection, not to mention advancing the delusional Great Replacement Theory.

      1. Or he was posturing. Don’t forget that J. D. Vance once compared Trump with Hitler, and look at him now!

        1. The sad thing is some people are so uninformed they actually believe what Musk said is absolute truth.

          1. A lot of them are uninformed, but there are also those who nonetheless express agreement with Musk and know better. I have always found politics creepy, but with the Trumpist movement we are confronted with creepiness on a whole new level that could only make a reasonable person’s skin crawl.

            1. True! There are those of the “Tucker Carlson” ilk that attempt creepy, calculated Jedi mind tricks. Interesting thing, when the right does things like “rig” the SCOTUS nomination process and stack the court, they say it’s being a good patriot. Yet, when the Dems have done so, they say they are about division and hate. You can’t make this stuff up!

BTW, why does the opinion of Musk really matter to anyone? Could it be some creepy backdoor deals occurring with the right…especially after being touted as an Independent by some commentators? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj2u8DKXZbY

              1. I don’t know much about him, but I thought he might be posturing with the goal of entering the political arena. The GOP has no moral guardrails anymore and is thus ideal for a bloodthirsty opportunist. The first step for that is to “own the libs.”

Hmm…could be. He may be following the template of Trump…in how he exploited disgruntled people and the system for personal and political gain.

There’s potential to grow Musk’s business by him getting in bed with those with the power to make law…especially when it seems they are likely to regain a majority in Congress and have an established majority within the SCOTUS (who interpret law). He’s witnessed increasing corruption within the GOP so he knows they may be willing play for pay. He’s made a play for Twitter and made noise about “free speech” and reinstating those that were “allegedly” wrongly silenced. Then declares he will vote for Republicans and “denounces” the opposition party as dividers and haters and joins them in carrying the “owing the libs” banner. Good start for currying favor to drive a personal/political agenda. The sad part…it just might work.

Sad commentary on our state of politics. People are so disgruntled, tribal and/or uninformed that they would allow politicians to get away with such hypocrisy. One could never “totally” believe a politician but there was some level of accountability if one was show to be a hypocrite. Now, it’s rewarded and seen as a badge of honor. So, it provides fertile ground for politicians to do what they’ve always done…just more of it with impunity. They are only giving the people what they want….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPLiznWRZXs

    1. So, let’s go to make-believe land and say Musk is right…Dems are indeed the party of division and hate. How in the world could you describe the right, given their track history?

Over the past decade, the Anti-Defamation League has counted about 450 U.S. murders committed by political extremists. Of these 450 killings, right-wing extremists committed about 75%. Islamic extremists were responsible for about 20%, and left-wing extremists were responsible for 4%. Nearly half of the murders were specifically tied to white supremacists. As this data shows, the American political right has a violence problem that has no equivalent on the left.

The pattern extends to violence less severe than murder, like the Jan. 6 attack on Congress. It also extends to the language from some Republican politicians — including Donald Trump — and conservative media figures that treats violence as a legitimate form of political expression. A much larger number of Republican officials do not use this language but also do not denounce it or punish politicians who do use it; Kevin McCarthy, the top House Republican, is a leading example.

    2. QUOTE: ….advancing the delusional Great Replacement Theory.

Politicians like Reps. Matt Gaetz, Elise Stefanik, and Donald Trump have appealed to great replacement theory on Twitter, Facebook, and on the campaign trail. Fox News host Tucker Carlson has relentlessly promoted the theory’s core tenets on his show.

Interestingly, there seems to be a lone voice within the GOP, Liz Chaney, “forthrightly denouncing this repugnant crap”…

“The House GOP leadership has enabled white nationalism, white supremacy, and anti-semitism. History has taught us that what begins with words ends in far worse. @GOP leaders must renounce and reject these views and those who hold them.”

  2. If Democrats are the party of division and hate…then what is the party that Cawthorn represents ?

“It’s time for the rise of the new right, it’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command. We have an enemy to defeat, but we will never be able to defeat them until we defeat the cowardly and weak members of our own party. Their days are numbered. We are coming.”

This is the man that called the Ukrainian government “evil” and its president a “thug”. He claimed that he had been invited to orgies in Washington and seen people doing cocaine. He is the star of a leaked video in which he is seen nude, which he said was “blackmail.” By who and why?

His post included a list of names of people and groups he said had come to his defense “when it was not politically profitable,” which included Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Trump, the NRA, Matt Gaetz and Paul Gosar, among others. He says, concerning them…

“These are honorable men and women who are the type of friends anyone yearns to have. These are those rare and hated men/women. There are other National figures who I believe are patriots, but I am on a mission now to expose those who say and promise one thing yet legislate and work towards another, self-profiteering, globalist goal. The time for gentile politics as usual has come to an end.”

    Hmm…no division or hate there!

  3. This past weekend Trump floated the notion of a “civil war”. Earlier this year Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested Republicans use their “Second Amendment rights” against Democrats while floating what she called a “national divorce.” Last week Madison Cawthorn threatened “Dark MAGA” revenge after his election loss, invoking a growing far-right movement that has repeatedly promoted political violence.

Relative to Trump’s “civil war” tweet, Republican congressman Adam Kinziner tweeted…“Any of my fellow Republicans wanna speak out now? Or are we just wanting to get through ‘just one more election first…?” Anyone willing to bet the Republicans will speak out en masse? Conservative George Conway said elected Republican officials are terrified of their base that’s become increasingly radicalized….“That actually does believe that people who politically disagree with them are a threat to the nation and therefore violence could be necessary to fight them off, and that’s what we saw in this social media post.”

Remind me again…which is the party of division and hate????
