It must be hard to get your brain this screwed up

Or Canada.

We were energy independent just a short time ago. Now we’re importing oil from Russia, and begging the rest of the world to pump more.

Biden is such a captive to the lunatic left that he can’t see how stupid this is.

  1. Nice soundbite. I guess.

Truth is we are still a net energy exporter. Even when orange bozo was president and we were a net energy exporter as well, we were still importing oil. I’ll try to explain this to you: “net energy exporter” means you export more energy and you import.

    1) Believe it or not, there’s different types of oil, and different types of refineries for that oil. Not all types come from with CONUS. But whatever…. The type we were importing from Russia was a different type. They make up dumb names for these like “sweet” crude or whatever. You can’t put diesel fuel in your lawn mower or a regular car engine. But whatever.

    2) Keystone Pipeline is still delivering oil. It isn’t shut down. Still delivering much as it ever was. What was shutdown was further development of the Keystone XL pipeline to deliver “dirty” tar sands oil. When the Keystone XL project was nixed, it was only 8% complete. So, it never was delivering oil. But whatever…

    3) Oil is bought and sold on a global market. A big interruption in production or supply somewhere is going to raise the cost of oil globally. If Exxon can get a better price selling oil to Japan, Taiwan, or the UK rather than the US, Exxon will sell to those markets. It’s the free market–something capitalists always laud….until they don’t.

I agree we should ramp up production to bring prices down. But if we ramp up production, all those barrels of oil won’t be staying here. But whatever.

    1. Yeah, politics is a one dependent variable game. We all know that. Yawn.

What is being reported today and other days as being most effective against Russian tanks? Javelin missiles. https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2022/02/25/u-s-made-javelin-missiles-rack-up-russian-tank-kills-in-ukraine/

And, what was Trump blackmailing Ukraine with, I’ll give you a guess…

When Trump abandoned the Kurds who were our allies since Iraq, who did he do it for? For his boy Vlad. Well, really, daddy, Vlad. Ever see House Joint Resolution 77? Passed 350-60 (so bipartisan, with 4 abstentions) saying:

Whereas an abrupt withdrawal of United States military personnel from certain parts of Northeast Syria is beneficial to adversaries of the United States government, including Syria, Iran, and Russia:

But January 6 revealed what a true patriot Trump was depending on your viewpoint.

      1. We’ve been over this. Trump used his leverage over Ukraine for political purposes. Ugly, but true. But the missles eventually went to Ukraine, right? He was trying to get something out of Ukraine, not doing Russia’s bidding.

And here’s a different interpretation of why Trump abandoned the Kurds. https://www.gq.com/story/trump-erdogan-kurds-syria

        1. Ok, Crowhill said it, I believe it, that settles it. Whatever.

Speaking of brains being screwed up… Sending F-22s with Chinese flags on them to bomb Russia? That’s a 3D chess move? How screwed up is someone’s brain?

          1. Right up there with musing about nuking hurricanes to stop them from hitting the US, injecting disinfectant into the body to cure Covid and using a sharpie to edit the trajectory of a dire hurricane.

        2. QUOTE: He was trying to get something out of Ukraine, not doing Russia’s bidding.

Couldn’t it have been both? Or, was that too sophisticated for the very stable genius?

  2. Now that Biden has announced a ban on Russian oil…let’s see how long it takes before the critics call this move “screwed up” because it comes with more increases in domestic gas prices and potentially causes angst for our European allies.

    1. Someone will complain no matter what you do, but it sounds like a good move to me.

      1. I’m for it. Putting pressure on Saudis to up production. Increase US production.

But, I saw a tweet saying local OK producers were reluctant to up production. This is tweet: https://twitter.com/TheOklahoman_/status/1500472790226456578

Shell? They’re going to use Russian oil, but give profits to Ukrainians. Ok, give Russia $100, give Ukrainians $1. Putin will love that.

    2. Well, I’m pretty sick of all the partisanship on all sides about now.

The increasing price of oil is hurting people. The elites just say, “Shut up. Just buy a Tesla.” Yeah, I have $45k+ just laying around.

Do these people think farm equipment runs on electricity or solar? Does the food grow in an apartment next to where their Door Dash driver lives?

Putin and Xi are still winning because we are still divided.

      1. QUOTE:Putin and Xi are still winning because we are still divided.

Exactly! Yet, each side is too invested in “owning” the other to see the impact of remaining divided.

    1. I heard an interesting discussion on drilling permits that said having the permit is only a small part of the process. You need lots of other approvals before you can put a pipe in the ground. You also need funding, which the fed and others are trying to make more difficult for fossil fuel ventures.

If Biden is actually trying to increase domestic production, good for him. It’s also possible this is a cynical move where they can take credit (look, we approved all these permits) while still blocking drilling. That sounds like a DC sort of move, where you can have a talking point for each side.

I don’t know what the truth is in this case.

      1. IDK either… I do know “Keystone Pipline” is a red herring… it’s still going strong…as far as delivering oil The Keystone Pipeline XL project was cancelled. It was only 8% complete. So, it was never delivering any oil…and how long for the foreseeable future before it would have been complete? …for Canadian tar sands oil people call “dirty” … whatever that means.
