Star Trek’s William Shatner blasts into space on Blue Origin rocket
It seems fitting, although it really should be somebody like John Glenn, and not an actor. (And yes, I know John Glenn is dead.)
A public record of some of my thoughts. Feel free to comment, but don't expect me to respond.

I suppose the question is whether any retired astronauts actually wanted to do it, or do it on Bezos’s terms? It’s probably relevant that one of Shatner’s defining characteristics since the end of the original set of Trek movies has been “publicity hound”.
Yes, he is very good at promoting himself.
I saw some crazy post where it had title like, “William Shatner, star of Boston Legal, set to go into space.”
I was like…errrr… I think there’s another role that might be more relevant… and it’s not TJ Hooker.
I vote for Buzz Aldrin … but he went to the moon… or a backlot studio… and just making a trip like that would probably mean nothing.
Chuck Yeager died last December. He’d be the guy…
Saw the Midway movie again on TV a month ago. Got me curious about a character. This guy is truly an all round American hero if you read his bio: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Doolittle
Yes, Doolittle was quite the hero.
