  1. It’ll be fun — well, not fun, but somehow satisfying — to see the usual routine occur.

Reagan was the worst person ever, until Bush 2. (I seem to recall Bush 1 getting more of a pass than usual.) And then McCain, who was the one tolerable Republican, was a horrible monster, until he wasn’t. And then Romney — among the most milquetoast Republicans you can imagine — wanted to push elderly women off cliffs or something, and took dogs for rides, which was somehow worse than eating them, and he had polygamous ancestors which was disqualifying except his opponent had a bigamous father which wasn’t. But then he became a dignified and respected person after his defeat, because *Trump* was now the worst person ever.

I’d bet good money there are already “DeSantis is worse than Trump” think pieces floating out there, because of _course_ there are.

      1. Heh.

Well, something’s definitely obvious, but I don’t think it’s what the author intended.

It’s like madlibs. You just insert the non-leftist of the day who might pose a problem in the “name” field and then spin the wheel to find out the complaints. Yes, I’m mixing metaphors, but why not? It’s not like anyone takes any of this seriously, because the Right isn’t fooled and the Left was going to enjoy the two minute hate regardless.

    1. If DeSantis becomes president and allows two pandemics to get out of hand or if he makes two attempts to have his cult followers break into the Capitol building to kill people, he will be worse than Trump. The definitive objections against Trump aren’t “woke,” “leftist,” or “liberal” in any sense.

  2. QUOTE: It’s way too early, of course, but that’s how I’m feeling right now. He’s punching back against censorship and woke nonsense.

If those are the top qualifications for the office, no wonder America needs to be made great again. Historically, these are the qualifications thought to make good presidents. Probably a good idea to continue looking for them.

    1. The GOP’s criteria for a great leader seem to be: 1) Outspoken belligerence towards the so-called woke, so broadly defined as to include moderates of both parties and independents. 2) Denial of Biden’s victory in the presidential election of 2020, in spite of numerous court rulings against such denial, not to mention quite a few recounts. 3) Indifference to public health and safety.

Surely not criteria for a great leader by from a rational point of view.
