P&C discuss the Georgia elections and the prospect of Democrats controlling the Senate, then address the big story — the attack on the Capitol.
There are a few important points to be made. First, this kind of violence needs to be condemned in no uncertain terms. Second, Trump’s behavior and language was completely unacceptable. Third, the long-term implications of this event are hard to predict, but will be very negative for Trump.

That’s an interesting title to Pelosi’s comments that have little basis in reality. But, whatever…
In general, it seems as if several of the people being arrested have affiliations with Proud Boys or other white nationalists. This seems to be driven by QAnon nonsense–which it seems many in the Republican caucus in congress have bought into.
For some in the Repug caucus, it reminds me of a joke on Twitter: I was for buying the pipe. I was for buying the gunpowder. I was for putting the gunpowder in the pipe. I was for capping the pipe and putting a wick in it. I was for lighting the wick. BUT, I WAS FOR SURE AGAINST THE EXPLOSION.
It will be interesting to see the FBI’s analysis in a few months… of how much was planned and how much was of stuff just getting out of control. In some of the vids, you can see the police doing their job. And, in other places, the police *seem* to be helping. You wonder how many members of law enforcement are complicit. The lady perp that was killed was a USAF veteran. This QAnon stuff is a cancer.
There are a lot of extremist groups — on the left and the right — that I hope people are watching.
I have often wondered if some of the conspiracy stuff is just elaborate trolling. IOW, somebody wondering how outlandish they can get and still have people believe them. It’s almost like writing fiction, if you think about it, and has a more immediate payoff.
This stuff has to stop. REPORT: FBI Says Armed Protests Planned In All 50 State Capitols Before Biden’s Inauguration
What good can possibly come out of an armed protest in this situation?
Is Trump using his authority and bully pulpit to stand down? No, right?
His @POTUS twitter hasn’t been blocked. He can still give a press conference like he did today. In reality, there’s nothing stopping him except he doesn’t care to stop it.

Okay. What’s his solution?
Who says there’s a solution?
“We try to solve our problems with words. Try tears.” – Fr. George Eber (my priest)
I guess my priest would be an idiot, loser, or a p*ssy according to Trump…my priest…still carries shrapnel in his body from Nam. Completed Orthodox Holy Week services at age 70+ a few years ago when he was barely able to stand, and then the next week went in for hernia surgery.
