New tools available for writers can do an analysis of your text and point out quirks in your writing — like how frequently you use the past tense, and words you use too often.
“Had” and “that” are two of my problems.
It’s very enlightening to search for sentences with those words and find other ways to express the idea.
New tools … any recommendations?
A friend who knows this space better than I recommends AutoCrit. He ran it against my manuscript for me.
Thanks, I’ll look into it. There’s also a freeware tool called TextStat that seems pretty good.
