The Trump / Biden election had some interesting features.
There was a much higher proportion of early and mail-in voting this time around. Did that skew the results?
Despite the assurances of the pollsters, and the fact that Democrats severely outspent Republicans, there wasn’t a blue wave.
Trump, the allegedly racist president, got more black and Hispanic votes than most Republicans have in a long time. Hispanic activists assured us that wasn’t going to happen.
Pigweed: “If Trump is up in five states that get slow-walked for a week or ten days, as ballots mysteriously appear, and then they get turned over, I’m calling BS on it.”
And now, we brace for the post-election violence.

This dynamic is interesting but isn’t necessarily correlated with Trump’s alleged racism. For instance, people who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome experience a similar dynamic. Despite developing positive feelings towards their abuser, doesn’t negate the fact that the perpetrator is actually an abuser.
But, what’s the proof of Stockholm Syndrome here? Before Covid, the black unemployment rate was at historic levels, and he did get through a crime reform bill. And crazy Kanye endorsed Trump for a while. Trump’s hatred for illegal aliens might resonate with poor blacks because the illegals are those that would compete against poor blacks for jobs.
As for the hispanic vote… people think it’s some kind of uniform bloc. Well, hispanics in Florida seem to be more conservative. Many of them are of Cuban origin and are going to vote differently than those of Mexican or Puerto Rican origin. Americans of Cuban origin are probably going to be more Red…they don’t like Castro and socialism…or things that are labeled socialism.
You’d have to ask people why they voted the way they did.
> As for the hispanic vote… people think it’s some kind of uniform bloc.
Isn’t that the essence of identity politics?

I’m not saying this dynamic was due to Stockholm Syndrome. I’m suggesting that just because there was an increase in minority allegiance, doesn’t necessarily negate the potential for a racist president. There could be other explanations for this dynamic. One would have to investigate to understand the nature of this dynamic.
Interesting and humorous reflection on calls made during the 2020 election.
