P&C do a very poor job in a blind taste test of four “best cheap beers” — National Bohemian, Rolling Rock, Budweiser and Tecate — then discuss four violent sports: Calcio fiorentino, mensur, dueling and football hooliganism.
The topic was inspired by the “Home Game” episode on Calcio fiorentino, which is a horribly violent version of football they play in Florence.
The next sport they review is mensur — academic / fraternity fencing societies, in which men would frequently come away with serious scars on their face. The point is to stoicly absorb the cut, and the scar is a sign of masculinity.
Crowhill then tells his one fencing story, in which he beat the Maryland State fencing champion.
The boys discuss dueling, which was sometimes no more than a matter of “satisfying honor,” but was often quite deadly — as in the Hamilton / Burr duel.
They end with hooliganism, which is more popular in Europe. Men descend on a sports game to fight.

I wouldn’t call Tecate a cheap beer unless you’re buying it in Mexico. It’s all my brother-in-law in Monterrey, Nuevo León drinks. Never seen him use lime or salt with it either.
Must have been Rolling Rock in a can? I’ve had it in the bottle. Bought a 6- pack once. Never again. Not a fan.
You should have tried Hamm’s, Old Style, PBR, Milwaukee’s Best. Was looking at cheap beer lists and those came up favorably…and are actually cheap.
Last two 6-packs I’ve bought are Lite and Coors Light. Both were ok. Didn’t compare one to one. Lite seemed a little more like real beer.
Want a cheap good beer? Aldi has a German beer that is a Warsteiner knockoff—down to logo style and starting with a W. Good—and for 5.99 or 6.99 for 6.
Recently decided to stick with beers my grandpa or uncles would drink—which means American and cheap.
From what I’ve read “adjunct” ingredients like rice are not there to save money but because in USA was harder to get same ingredients as in the old country. Honestly don’t see a lot of difference in top mass produced American beers. I remember Stroh’s being more unique and identifiable when I was a kid—back when Stroh’s was a top 3-4 brand. Doesn’t taste the same since they moved production out of Detroit and got bought by Heilman’s.

The Aldi stores around here don’t sell beer. :/ I’d love to try their generic.
And yes, adjuncts are used for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it’s to save money, but sometimes it’s because they prefer the lighter beer you get when you use corn or rice.
