The patronizing, anti-market attitude of some people in government

by Greg Krehbiel on 11 May 2017

I saw a survey about craft beer on Facebook, and some attempts to fix Maryland’s idiotic alcohol laws, so I tried to take it. I couldn’t get past question 4.

taprooms and maryland's stupid alcohol laws

This is so wrong-headed it makes me ill.

Government has to quit this silly, anti-market nannying stuff. If somebody opens business A that takes away customers from business B, that’s not a bad thing. It’s called progress. It means people are getting what they want. They’re voting with their feet and their dollars.

Government should not be interfering with markets or trying to protect businesses against fair competition.
