When the drone swarm comes …

by Greg Krehbiel on 21 November 2017

I have dreaded the day that humans can make drones the size of a fly that can land on a man and inject him with a fatal toxin.

We’re not all that far away. Pigweed sent me this: UC Berkeley professor’s ‘slaughterbots’ video on killer drones goes viral

Oh great! Another way to kill people!

High-tech weapons like that may find a niche-market in targeted assassinations: say, the Russians decide to bump off some spy or dissident. But I don’t think they will become the weapon of choice for your common thug. The common thug will stick with the reliable, time-tested weapon he knows best, something he can hold in his hand like a sawed-off shotgun or a ‘Saturday Night Special’.

And on a more cheerful note, here’s wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
