Maybe there really are zombies

by Greg Krehbiel on 19 November 2009

Into the Zombie Underworld: An American tries to separate truth from lore as he searches for a lost soul in rural Haiti.

Be warned. It’s a very long article.

The basic idea is that a person is given a drug that causes extreme paralysis and is buried. The person is probably conscious through this experience. (Being buried alive is supposed to be pretty traumatic.) The body is recovered, the person is beaten severely and given other drugs and so forth to initiate them into their new life as a zombie slave.

Apparently, election has been good for U.S.-world relations. From near the bottom of the article:

Monsieur H. told me that the election of Obama had made him realize that blan were not the racist, venal, cruel creatures he had always imagined. This was about two weeks after the election.

I feel so much better now.

Yeah, now that witch doctors in Haiti like us, all is well with the world.

And dennis, why does Fr. Swink’s photo show up in your post?

I didn’t realize it did, how embarrassing! I was looking into his blog the day before so maybe it got saved in some cache somewhere? Any ideas?

It grabs the image from gravatar, so I think you need to go to gravatar and associate your image with your email.

    I’ll send more details privately.
