Gulliver’s Travels has a clever explanation of precedent — something done illegally before can be done legally now. I thought of that when I read an article about one of Bush’s likely Supreme Court nominees. ‘She has stated that the Supreme Court “has clearly held that the right to privacy guaranteed by the Constitution includes the right to have an abortion” and that “the law is settled in that regard.”‘ (See Speculation Centers on Clement for Court
