In &quot;The Rise of Christianity,&quot; Rodney Stark makes an interesting argument that the bulk of Hellenized Jews (not to mention Gentile &quot;God-fearers&quot;) actually converted to Christianity.  It&#039;s not conclusive, but it&#039;s well-reasoned.</description>

Just one thought: when you mentioned the special role of Jews in salvation history, I couldn&#039;t help but think of the fundamentalist/dispensational premillennailists view of the role of the Jews in the rapture/apocylpse.  I&#039;m not sure where my mind wants to go with it from there, but it was the first thing that came into it...</description>
