A rodeo clown who dressed up with an Obama mask and asked if the crowd wanted to see Obama run over by a bull has been banned for life from Missouri state fairs.
I’m not sure what to think of this.
Clowns are clowns. They do goofy, stupid things, and sometimes in the process they insult people. That’s their business. I don’t particularly like clowns (I don’t enjoy that kind of humor), and I’ve never been to a rodeo, but I suspect that rodeo clowns have insulted other presidents.
OTOH, you’re not allowed to threaten the president, so there might be an issue on that point.
But it seems as if people are trying to make this a matter of race.
If a black president can’t be criticized, or mocked, or joked about, or insulted, without it becoming a race issue, then we’re in bad shape.
(P.S. — no, the site has not switched to the new server yet. I’m not sure why and I’m getting frustrated at the new hosting company. So this thread might disappear in the transition.)
(P.P.S. — while typing the above paragraph I wrote “sight” instead of “site,” then saw it and fixed it. I notice that I do that when typing. I think of a word and my fingers just take off and sometimes write a homophone, despite the fact that I know the difference between the words quite well.)
