When drones are the size of bees

Partisan blindness is an interesting phenomenon to watch. (See below about the liberal terrorist, and the link in Pentamom’s comment.)
I am 100% convinced that if all these drone strikes were on George Bush’s watch, the media and the left would be on it constantly. People would be crying all over the place about ethics and accountability and oversight and “just war” theory and every kind of thing.
The left doesn’t seem so worried about it right now because it’s their guy behind the control panel. Not literally, of course. Obama isn’t playing LBJ and picking military targets. But partisanship seems to trickle down. The left’s general trust in Obama extends out to his administration, just as the right’s general trust in Bush extended out to his.
“I’m sure they’re doing the right thing because they’re nice people like us — not like those evil, stupid, immoral monsters on the other side.”
I think we’re in a dangerous place. After 911 we’ve gone a little crazy with “security,” and we’ve tended to err on the side of making it easier on law enforcement and the military. There isn’t much oversight on the use of these new technologies, and they’re getting really, really cool — and incredibly invasive.
What will it be like when a “drone” can fly unnoticed through a city, land on somebody’s neck, inject something that causes a heart attack, but leaves no trace, and then fly away?
Oh … I guess I shouldn’t worry. I’m sure they’ll only that power for good and noble purposes.

There was plenty of objection to drone strikes under Bush.
Otherwise, I agree 100% A weapon that can be wielded without risk to the person wielding that weapon is a deadly threat to liberty.

And speaking of killer drones the size of bees, …
